Any .wav / mp3 editor recommendations

PostSat Apr 07, 2007 9:14 am

Can anyone recommend a reasonable audio editor ? I just want to
record dry samples using HW and then add some echo and possibly some
other effects. Perhaps a rather stupid question - but are they more or less the same ? Is one for £300 much better than one for £30 - or is the
difference (to the ear) hardly noticeable ?

Thanks,

What you are paying for is what you can do with your recording after it is made. SoundForge 8.0 can do much more in post production than the free download. Far to many features to list here, but notably built in convolution (impulse) reverb can be very useful for recording organ. Plus it has tools to help you loop your samples. You need a good quality editor to make good quality samples.

Thanks for reply. What I shall attempt is to record straight from my
Lexicon MPX. This will give the desired sound effects. Seems like the
editing software is quite expensive.

I use Goldwave. It is inexpensive. It seems to work fine and it handles any format that I have wanted. I did not find the reverb to be acceptable, but you wrote that you will use your own effects. You can try it free.
