Audacity seems to have worked at the start, I managed to convert one file, but now I keep getting this pop-up message whenever trying to play my files back: Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.
Not only the mp3 files are unplayable (the Service Pack I am using on Vista should be able to allow for this, as it has played back both mp3 and wav files), but it sometimes renders the original .wav recordings unplayable as well. Recording format on Hauptwerk is set to the more compatible version, 16-bit, by the way. I don't really know what to do.

Audacity has a lot of export options. I am lucky in that it worked the way I wanted the first time (192 KBps). It does prompt you for author and copyright information before saving.
