Can't play selections????

PostFri May 25, 2012 12:14 pm

When I open a selection fromt he "Browse" list and click on the 'Play" button, my brower returns me to the "Browse" list. Thinking this was I problem with a brower setting, I tried using Firefox instead of Internet Explorer but I get the same result.

Has anyone had this problem before and knows how to fix it?

Bob,
It wotks fine for me in both IE and FF. When I click on play in Browse, it brings up a little player console and I click on play on that window.

Are you still having this problem? If so, did you try clicking on multiple uploads?

Thanks,

Bob,

Would it be possible for you to identify which versions of IE and Firefox you're using?

On Internet Explorer, click on the little "gear wheel" icon in the upper right corner of the browser. A menu will drop down--the last item on the menu is labeled "About Internet Explorer"--when you select that you'll see a dialog with information about the browser version.

Also--by any chance are you a software developer? Are you using IE Developer Tools (or Firefox developer tools) to emulate older browser versions?

Darryl--

FWIW, I have tried to re-create this issue with IE, checking compatibility with versions 7 through 9, with both "vanilla" documents and "quirks mode". I can't reproduce the problem. But--my web team has decreed that IE 6 is a bad memory that still causes them psychic trauma, so we do not have any means to test for IE 6 (or earlier) compatibility.

That doesn't mean the problem doesn't exist--it clearly does. The fun is in figuring out what's causing it.

Thanks for looking into this John.

The only thing I can think beyond what you have already asked him is that maybe he has to empty his cache on those browsers. If I recall correctly, we had a problem with this a couple years ago when we upgraded the website. People's browsers had the old page cached instead of the new one. Clearing the cache out fixed that. If he has not used those browsers in contrebombarde since then that would explain things.

IE is version 9.0.6

Firefox is vesion 12

I flushed the cache on IE. Now when I click on the "play" triangle in the player window the small, long rectanble flashes orange briefly and the "play" triangle comes back, WIt Firefox, nothing happens. THis is a little different than before. Originally I would get sent back to the "Browse" page.

Chrome still works fine.

Just a point of reference. I am running Firefox 12.0 and there are no problems exhibited by Contrebombarde.com.

Bob,

Do you have Javascript disabled in IE and Firefox?

Javascript is enabled in FIrefox. Not sure where to check this in IE?
