More Malware Probs?

PostFri Nov 09, 2012 10:52 am

For the last several days I've been getting the following message and a similar one in Safari:

Google Chrome has blocked access to this page on www.contrebombarde.com.
Content from categorizationclick.portuguesemx.info, a known malware distributor, has been inserted into this web page. Visiting this page now is very likely to infect your Mac with malware.

I recall there was a problem with this a while back....has it returned?

Cheers,
Michael

Hi Michael,

A few weeks ago our security software at work here was picking up something immediately when I attempted to visit CCH and was warning of a potential malware issue and blocking the site. Just tried today and now all seems fine.

It's still being blocked from here for some reason.

Just a complete shot in the dark here, but maybe Google Chrome holds some kind of setting / memory after it has detected a malware threat from a given site and won't allow you to access it later even though the threat is no longer there?

Try deleting your browser history and see if that makes a difference. Again, it's a long shot but who knows?

Hmm...it seems to work fine from home...perhaps it was a problem with proxies/etc at work...it used to work there. I also got a message about malware from Safari, but when I tried Firefox, I got a message from the server at work saying it was blocked....dunno why the difference. Anyway, thanks everyone for the suggestions...I'll go back to enjoying Agnus_Dei's performance of Britten's Prelude and Fugue on a Theme of Vittoria and hoping his hearing improves!

Regards,
Michael
