Problems with the Contrebombarde Concerthall

PostThu Nov 15, 2012 3:08 pm

Dear friends,

the Contrebombarde Concerthall is a great offer to our Hauptwerk community.
But there are some problems with this Website.

1. Edit
I didn‘t found how to change mistakes of the own posted music, e. g. if I mentioned the wrong organ.

2. Composers list
It is not possible a componist‘s name which is not already included in the composers list.
Additionally the composers list have its problems. I found e. g. Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy not as Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, Felix, but as Felix Mendelssohn.

3. Order of pieces
If I select one composer, there is now alphabetic order with his posted pieces. So you are looking, and looking, and looking for a spiecial piece.

4. Ladezeiten / Dateigrößen
I succeded to post some pieces. But the biggest piece of them had only 16 MB. North German choral fantasies, big Bach-pieces or symphonic pieces have a duration up from 8 min. The files will so get a size of 18 MB and more. I would like to post e. g. Reincken »An Wasserflüssen Babylon« with more than 40 MB, but I don‘t know how I should manage that. With a file size of 21 MB (Buxtehude, Toccata in F) I got the message HTPP ERROR 500.
Are there some limits for uploading-times or file-sizes?

Please, can you tell me about your experiences with the Contrebombarde Concerthall?

What name are you posting under? I can find nothing under "contrabaxions".

You should probably convert the files to mp3 using something like Audacity which is free. That will reduce the file sizes and they will still be reasonable as far as fidelity is concerned.

Thanks!

I post as wolfram_syre.
I have the Reincken "An Wasserflüssen Babylon" (Schnitger-organ Zwolle) converted to MP3 (320 b) already.
It has now the size of a little bit over 40 MB.

Best wishes

I don't think there is a file size limit anywhere near these sizes. For example, here is a post I did at 37MB:

http://www.contrebombarde.com/concerthall/music/5088

So perhaps it may be some temporary problem?

To edit your posts, you can click on the Edit button that is below the Details column of data on right side of each contribution.

To include music from other composers, select "other" from the bottom of the list, then specify the name in the box that appears. You can change names like Mendelssohn's that way, too.

You can use the Advanced Search to include more than just composer in the search, for example a word from the title of the piece.

If these hints are not clear or detalied enough, please ask more questions. :)

Best regards,
Erik

Thank you so much.

The EDIT function is working well; also the composers list with new items.

The uploading of big files doesn't work on my system.
I succeded on my PC with files until 10 MB.
On another PC I could upöoad until 15 MB.

But all bigger files didn't work.

So I am looking forward to a solution.

Try again.

It appears that some log files were full on the site; see the other thread in this area for Darryl's response that it had been fixed.

Things should be back to normal now.

Dear friends,

I could manage my problems with the Contrebombarde Concerthall.
It was my bad Internet-connection.

Thank you so much for your interest.
