Server Conversion (addressing uploading problems)

We've done it! We have hit the limit on our current hosting (due to a fineprint technicality - "unlimited storage" but a limit on the number of files...).

Some of you have had trouble uploading over the weekend. This is why. We're hoping to have the new hosting in place in the next 24-48hrs.

So, please keep on recording stuff and we'll give the all-clear to start uploading ASAP. You can attempt an upload but know that it may not be successful.

In the meantime, it's a wonderful chance to go and re-discover the vast wealth of content already on the site all 13,521 pieces of music and close to 100 articles.

Thanks for your patience. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Darryl

I can't reach Contrebombarde.com, all that appears is an Apache testpage.

When will CB be back online?

We're waiting for the transfer at the moment. We have had to move to our own server (as opposed to just a "hosting" arrangement). This process has been unexpectedly bumpy. What should have been a straight, seamless transfer is taking much longer than expected.

We're hoping it will be back up and running in a few hours. Right now, there's a 60 minute wait even to talk to someone at the server farm. It's pretty frustrating.

Anyway, we'll be back up soon.

Please subscribe to https://www.facebook.com/ContrebombardeConcertHall/ to get the latest news.

Thanks,

Darryl and the admin team

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand... We're back! Sort of.

Thanks for your patience. We hope that absence has made the heart grow fonder.

You can now dive back in at www.contrebombarde.com/concerthall/home/dashboard

However, the two hosting companies are still fighting over the domain name. So "contrebombarde.com" itself won't work but any sub-link to the site will work.

The main dot com link should work fine soon

I now get very often errors when trying to connect:

"A Database Error Occurred
Unable to connect to your database server using the provided settings"

Are any problems with the ConcertHall site?

By the way, the response time seems to be now much higher than before.

Hi Helmut,

I tried the site after I got this on Saturday and couldn't find a problem. I figured it was a temporary glitch. Are you still having trouble with the site?

Hi Darryl,

the error message posted by Prof. Maier is in fact appearing every once in a while, when I am accessing Contrebombarde. In most cases after a few minutes it is working normal again. So I presume you are right with your diagnosis "temporary glitch", however, it keep reoccuring. I would say I see it about one or two times every other day.
Don't think it is critical though, so far it never lasted longer than maybe 10 to 15 minutes.

Best regards
Reiner

Hi Reiner,

Yes, we're working on it. Trying to find out what, exactly, is causing MySQL to overload. It appears that were having "aborted connections" that crash it.

This is our first time optimizing the MySQL database on our own. The previous hosting package did this for us. So, if anyone has any expertise, and can point us in the right direction, feel free to share.

Raymond did a fix and rebooted it about 10 minutes ago. We'll see if the problem persists.

Thanks for your patience.

Darryl

Yes, I get the same error message - now trying to access anything on CB - it seemed to start last yesterday (thursday) on certain parts of the site, but now appears completely down - just error messages like the one posted.

Hopefully resolved soon

Regards,

AML
