Is CBCH a place to upload mp3 files of real acoustic organs?

PostSun May 29, 2016 11:02 pm

Hello All,

It is my understanding that the CBCH is a place where Haupwerk users are able to share their crafts with other Hauptwerk enthusiasts. I call to your attention a recording of a real acoustic instrument whose audio came from a YouTube upload. Here' s the URL:

http://www.contrebombarde.com/concerthall/music/21007

I wish not to get anyone into trouble over this activity; at the same time, it is more than a little stepping over the original CBCH's user agreement. At least the uploader was honest enough to state this was audio from a real acoustic organ, and it is clearly evident this is of an audio recording of an acoustic instrument (horrendously out of tune).

I direct the administrator(s) to handle this matter.

Cheers,

Joe

Hello Joe,

I agree with you. Even where the information is clear, I mean this is not the right place for this kind of records. CB is an excellent source of information in order to learn about the sample-sets, f.i. before a purchase. This kind of post may cause confusion and handicap the research.

These additional examples are a bit different of a case, because the audio track is recorded from Hauptwerk (Dom Bedos organ sample set), but the YouTube video link is of the same performer playing the piece live on a different "real" organ. (Two different performances, really.) I don't see any problem with that. No different from putting a link to a video of note (which people do in other cases) in the comments of a post. The audio is still from Hauptwerk.

However, the original post of the Liszt piece that Joe cited in this thread is not Hautpwerk at all, and thus it does not fit the mission of CCH. This comes up every now and again when somebody begins posting who is not fully aware that CCH is (by its charter) intended only for Hauptwerk-produced recordings.
