Creating a playlist in CCH

PostWed Jul 06, 2011 12:56 pm

The new Playlists feature in the Contrebombarde Concert Hall site is terrific--now you can select the music you enjoy most, and assemble a playlist of your favorites.

Here's all you have to do:

First, go to the Contrebombarde Concert Hall web site (http://www.contrebombarde.com/concerthall), and choose the new "Playlists" tab.

Second, click on the button to "Create Playlist".

Third, you'll see a web page that asks you to a name for your playlist, and to enter music. Enter a name for your playlist (I just created "Bach - Eight Little Preludes and Fugues"). But what do you enter in the Music field?

What goes in the Music field?
The Music field is a search field--type in a word or a phrase. CCH will display a list of entries that match--pick an entry from the list, and that entry will be added to your playlist. It's that simple!

Tips for the Obsessive-Compulsive
If you're happy with a playlist that is ordered by whatever random order you selected, you don't need to do anything else. Save your list, and publish it to the world. But if you'd like to order your playlist in a specific order, you can (albeit manually). Here's how:

Each entry in the playlist has a little "up-down" arrow icon on the left-hand side. Click on that arrow--and drag the playlist entry up or down to where you want it in the list. So, for instance, if it makes sense to you to sort your playlist alphabetically by the moniker of the person who uploaded them, and then by the BVW number of the piece, you can.

(Or, if you were really obsessive, you could arrange your list alphabetically by uploader, and then by the date the piece was uploaded. And if you were really, really fixated about sorting things, you could sort your list by the uploader's name, the title of the piece, the BVW number, and then the date of upload; thus enabling you to listen to good music, and know that you'd done your part to bring a little bit of order to a chaotic world. But I digress....)

Give it a try!
