HW on a johannus opus 30. Amazing!

PostMon Sep 03, 2012 5:37 am

Hi. Its 3 years since I got back to organ playing, but it's been only 6 months since I first heard of Hauptwerk. Very quickly, I had the chance to buy a used organ Johannus Opus 30. To my surprise, the old desktop my wife had, linked to the MIDI connection, via a basic USB connector. So I could test the trial version of Hauptwerk almost immediately, thanks to some advice from an audio specialist, and a bit of my own computer knowledge.
What a marvel! I can now see myself practising at home! Needless to say, I was intrigued to discover all the forums and posts. So quickly discovered that you can spend a lot of time or a lot of money. Because I saved a lot on the Johannus purchase, I got a quote for a high-end computer, with a bit of future proofing (i.e. extendability to 64GB), a USB audio device, headphones and speakers. Marc Adamczewski suggested I started with the surround sound of Caen, considering the computer I had. So that's what I did. This result is fabulous! Thank you to all the people in the forums, who unwittingly contributed to this effort. The choice of Speakers was achieved by sending a recording to the audio specialist using the full range of the Caen samples.
