sorry, but it seems to me it was a lot simpler to post a pic before....right?
this new link you gave just results in a run-around dead end...
so,,,,,,,,,no pics for you..!!!

but..............i will try again soon......maybe i'll get it right.....lol :o

as a side note.....
I am very pleased with the overall progress i have made since discovering VPO/VTPO less than a year ago, and as of today, I have no less than 7 of these installed on two different systems.....all working beautifully.......after lots of trial and error considering all the variables and tweeks........"I've come a long way baby" .....and not without the help of many of ya'all out there in cyberspace..
thanks.

Wednesday, Nov.21....lets try this......

There have been no changes to how pics are posted here, if you had it working before then the same steps apply now. That tutorial lists as simply as possible how to post an image. Check with the image hosting account you are using to see if there are issues with linking back to images host on their servers from external sites.

First of all you are adding a link to the web page itself (ends with .html), not the image link. That will not work.

On the right side of that web page is a list of links, you want to copy the IMG code, then use that to paste in the forum post.

However, please read the "How to post photos" thread again, you cannot have an image larger than 640px wide which yours is, so it will not work until you reduce the image size to 640px or less.

Sorry, we do not allow users to directly host files on our forum.

So as not to waste the post I wrote, with examples...

joeroberts wrote:I have this photo on the bucket....now how do i get it here?????

On the right of that photobucket page, click in the box labelled "direct link", which will copy the contents. Then in the editor here click the "Img" button, and paste in between the tags generated - like this:

Code: Select all

However, that won't work, because this forum doesn't allow pictures more than 640 pixels wide, which yours is. You can specify to Photobucket to resize when you upload. Some other services, like Flickr, allow you to specify resizing in the link (I don't have more details, because I host my pictures on my own server).

You can instead make a link:

Code: Select all
link to picture

which people can click, like this: link to picture.

sorry Brett.
I am a bit angry (mostly at myself).....as dumb as i am...i have accopmplished so much just to get my "installed organs" to work since my joining last year...and correctly at that (ie, the numerous variables etc...)....and now to post a simple picture (which i've done hundreds of times)...but using a third party is driving me nutty(ier)....
I may have to play around with this for a awhile....so be more patient than me.....i will figure this out....all the information has been given....I just need to interpret it......
thanks.....and i will try to lol ....

Before I got around to editing the pictures to the smaller size and putting them on the bucket site,
I put pictures on Flickr and then just copied and pasted the URL to my flickr album in a message so people could go see the pictures there.

John,

By far the best way. Forums really need to simplify this because its far too complex.

Bandwidth and storage both cost money; providing image facilities on the forum would increase the cost of the forum to MDA. Some forums carry ads to defray such costs, but many prefer not to and to limit the costs by not providing internal image facilities.

Sorry to report, My Technics Organ of 14 yrs has bit the dust......parts are no longer available. Just a piece of beautiful junk...guess I will part it out...maybe I can help other Technics owners.....We are a dying breed.......
Meanwhile, I will start hunting for something appropriate to replace it....Oh yes, I have a number of single midi keyboards that I substitute (on a small scale).....I may be down, but I'm not out.......lol
