Got the picture now, thanks, Martin. Should this discussion be moved to a new
heading? Just curious if some interested persons might miss it here.

I sent Roman Sowa (info@midi-hardware.com) a note regarding this question.
He answered in part:

I think once every 5s would be more than enough, because how often do
you load a new organ?

There is one elegant solution - Hauptwerk at start can send "MIDI ready"
message when it's ready to accept all MIDI traffic. This is configurable
in HW and by default is disabled. This message can be then recognized by
MIDI encoders to send actual state of all controls to sync with just
started HW.

But anyway this is not available in my boards yet, so this needs a
firmware upgrade.

The roll top is in place. Guide slots and rollers provide a 1/4 inch clearance which is the console air exit. This is 6 feet long which gives 18 sq. Inches area. The primary air entrance is a cutout in the keyboard tray ahead of the pedal light unit. That cutout is about 7 by 32 inches.

Console heat load is minimal. Organ plus is capable of 40 amps, but actual use is a very low duty cycle. The console did have a rank of chest magnet driver cards for the horizontal trumpets. The SIB and controller board assembly now occupies that real estate. Power draw of that unit is 5v at 200ma.

The preamp box power is 3 to 4 watts. The computer box does NOT have a graphics card, but instead uses the so-so motherboard graphics capability. It was good enough for text and simple graphics to get Hauptwerk up and running. That and the huge power draw of a high end graphics card just is not there.

The i5 quad-core cpu clocks at 2.4 GHz, which by today’s standards is slow. It is adequate to run Hauptwerk (its only function in life), and the static current drain is minimized. The chip is from the Intel “Sandy Bridge” technology level which specifically addresses reduced power consumption.

The console was opened up for taking pictures. The backdrop of Figure 2 shows the back panels in place.

As previously mentioned, very well engineered and executed. Lots of thought went into this project.
