New Magnus Futuris II (AGO version)

PostWed Jan 23, 2013 2:53 pm

This is our new Magnus Futuris II (AGO version).

The instrument was built for DHMidi-Organs.
For the first time will be shown during the presentation at the University of Hull.

Instrument contains two innovations:
- Magnus AGO pedalboard (first time)
- Magnus wooden Toe Pistons (now we offer two types of toepistons. French and English type.)

Another nice design instrument. Congratulations¡
I just wonder about the necessity of lighted toe pistons, since in the middle of the playing is not easy to remember which ones are ON or OFF, and it is not a difficult task (for a builder) to connect a LED to each piston.

I think there is a difference of expectation between organists in the English-speaking world and those in mainland European traditions - partially due, perhaps to the way organs are used in those different regions.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the latter are more used to using what we call General Combinations and the Germans, for example, call Freie Kombinationen; and because these may not always be in a logical pp-ff sequence, they like to know which combination is currently in use, hence the desire for them to be lighted.

The former, on the other hand (at least the British - I'm not so sure about the North Americans) are often more dependent on Divisional Combinations (a pp-ff sequence of pistons for each manual and pedal department, rarely if ever seen in Europe), which we don't expect to see lighted.

Does this make sense?

Hi¡
I mentioned "toe pistons", no manuals.
Then that means that the 8 toe pistons correspond to the 8 central manuals. OK.

In this particular case, yes: these are currently being used as Pedal Divisional Combinations.
But they could be anything you want them to be.

In the future, we can install the LED above toepison, or exactly in the middle. It's actually not a problem.

That is a very attractive console. Nicely done.

One thing I have noticed with VPO consoles is the open sides. This makes sense to accommodate computer screens but it just doesn't quite "feel" right to me. I wonder if one could come up with a way to accommodate the screens and still have the enclosed sides of a traditional console.

Please, take a look at other models of our consoles.

Soon (for 3-4 weeks) a new version of the console "Silesia" will be ready. "Silesia-Moderno". It will have two touchscreens instead of draw-knobs.
