Color LCD Heads Up display

PostThu Oct 15, 2015 10:19 am

The Heads Up Display has 4 different screen views to allow you instant access to realtime status of your Hauptwerk instrument. Configuration is simple and uses Hauptwerk's status port. It is powered by a USB port but uses a MIDI jack to receive data from Hauptwerk. To move between display screens, touch the left side of the screen to move back or the right side of the screen to move forward.

Note: "Gen" and "Comb" are mapped to Hauptwerk's native combo action system. So "Gen" updates when a Master General piston is pressed and "Comb" updates when a Scoped Piston is pressed. If you are not using Hauptwerk's native combo action system, and are using the combo action supplied by your sample set, you will have to do additional programming in order for these fields to update.

You can daisy chain multiple screens together. Each screen will retain the memory of the last screen view used. It will start up with that same screen when powered on.

Connections:

1 x MIDI IN Jack - For the MIDI data.
1 x USB Power Jack - USB plug is used strictly for the +5V power to power the screen.

Includes black bezel

Hi Darryl;

Can you explain a little more about "extra programming"?

Are we limited to the displayed information you pictured here and on your website?

Back light intensity adjustable?

Compatible with both Mac and PC?

I'm excited about this product because it is exactly the sort of thing I've been waiting for to get this type of information displayed out at my console.

Thanks for the questions.

Hauptwerk has two, distinct combination action systems with general and divisional pistons. One is Hauptwerk's native one. This is the one that you see on the toolbars and the large floating control panels. The other one is the one supplied (sometimes) by the sample set creator. Those you see on the virtual consoles and extra screens provided with the sample set.

Only Hauptwerk's native combination action automatically outputs the last piston pressed information via the status port. Those messages automatically come up on the LCD screen when it's connected.

You can make the pistons from the sample set send messages too. However, you have to program them to do so. We made the screens so that you could have those work with those pistons if you do the setup inside Hauptwerk.

Here's a tutorial on how to do it. Programming "Gen" and "Comb" to work with a sample set's combinations.

Unfortunately, the backlighting is not adjustable on these.

This is a MIDI device rather than a USB device. So, it's compatible with either Mac or PC. So, there are no driver issues.

Does that help?

This looks most interesting. Any plans for an agent in the UK or mainland Europe?

Thanks for the question.

We tend to ship those to Europe directly. However, if you need an intermediary, we can arrange that for you. Just email me at midisales@organworks.com if you need to do that.

Cool Gadget! But to be a truly 'heads up display' you'd need to be able to see through it to the sheet music behind! :)

John, all you have to do is get a set of monitor glasses! (if someone still makes them.)
