audio interface help

PostSun Jun 24, 2018 10:32 am

wel i started with a motu ultralite mk3, upgraded to a Mk4 which was sonically better, and enough outputs
then one of my friends lent me an audient iD14, and the sound quality blew me away, but alas not so many outputs. but I def need an upgrade from my motu.
any thought on a larger audient, or an apogee. I realise its so subjecive, but what will give me the best sonic quality without needing an extra mortgage

many thanks in advance

I don't have one, but the Audient iD44 at $700 has 2 ADAT outputs, so the digital to analog conversion would be done by the ADAT to balanced analog converters you'd have to buy, which would determine sound quality for 16 of the channels. The other outputs are 4 balanced and 4 unbalanced headphone channels.

So a bigger Audient wouldn't necessarily give a sound improvement except for the 4 balanced outputs. Maybe I'm missing other options.
