Recommendation for new Thunderbolt 3 / USB-C audio interface

PostWed May 15, 2019 12:16 pm

Hi there,

I am just setting up a new HW organ at home. Pedals are already there, keyboards to be delivered next week. I have bought a new Mac Mini 2018 6-core to upgrade with 64GB RAM first...
... and then there was a recommendation to use an external sound card/ audio interface.
Therefore my question: could anyone here in the forum recommend such an external device which works well with Macs and uses already thunderbolt 3 or USB-c 3?
I’ll start with my headphones and the small headphone jack on the Mac mini first, but for any future upgrades I’ll appreciate any shared pearls of wisdom in the forum.
Greetings from Germany

MOTU is a favourite of the forum, and they have many thunderbolt compatible products. Which one depends on how many outputs you need/might need in the future. Just don’t connect it via USB, since many of them are still USB 2.0. USB 2.0 has audio glitches on new (T2) macs, and there is no word when/if Apple is going to fix the bug. Thunderbolt seems to be the way to go instead.
