Cantorum VI Plus keyboard touch

PostThu Oct 22, 2020 1:34 pm

I'm looking for a portable organ practice keyboard for vacations. My weighted touch digital piano died on my last trip. I want classic organ stops, with MIDI out for occasional Hauptwerk use.

I'm most concerned with getting a decent organ touch. (I'm used to Midiworks CMK3 manuals and a Steinway 6' grand with lightweight hammers.)

I still have an Ahlborn H6 sitting around, but its touch only has a springy resistance, no extra resistance to break through at the top, so it feels like a cheap toy to play.

Does anyone have experience with the Viscount Cantorum VI Plus? What does its "tracker touch" emulation feel like? Same question for Cantorum Duo.

Are there any other current portable classic organ keyboards I should consider, too?

Thank you.

Hi, I own both keyboards, Ahlborn H6 and Viscount Cantorum VI.
They are worlds apart.
The touch of the H6 is indeed springy and "cheap" (though the sounds are fine).

The Cantorum VI (also the Plus) has the best tracker touch you can find.
It's in fact a Fatar, modified by Viscount, providing superior tracker feeling.
Also the looks are atractive: still plastic but not shiny: looks and feels like bone.

Enjoy,
Jack.

Thank you. That's exactly what I needed! Ordered a VI Plus.

Just unboxed the Cantorum VI Plus from Midiworks. The touch is good for a travel practice organ: solid touch, not mushy or springy, a little more touch weight required than my wood CMK3 keys but not excessive.
