MIDI messages translation

PostTue Nov 04, 2003 5:23 am

Hi,

I used to have a GEM Chorus organ connected to Hauptwerk. One matter was, that it sent sysex messages (which Hauptwerk couldn't handle) for stop control instead of noteon/off messages.
I don't know if it can be useful to other people, but I found a useful software for MIDI message translation, named Bome's Midi Translator (www.bome.com).

Hello,

I saw your mail and am interested in this program. I downloaded it and had a look at it.

Can I use it to transfer incoming midi messages on channel 0 to channel 1 for Hauptwerk ? If yes, how can I do so ?

The fact is my Johannus organ sends from 0 (=pedal) to 15.
In Hauptwerk I cannot enter channel 0 for the pedal, so I have to enter 1 and a keyshift of -1. This however shifts all notes played on the keyboard by 1 half note. So if I play E on the organ I can see D# on the keyboard in Hauptwerk.

Kind regards,
Nico

Nico's problem is now sorted out - he had confused the key shift and channel numbering, but all is now working.
