Installer can not complete installation.

PostTue Oct 11, 2016 10:26 am

Dear Hauptwerk User,

One of my friend has been trying to install the Hauptwerk to his computer.

<< Failure Symptom >>
However, the installer of Hauptwerk can not completed.
12 hours after the installation start, the installer was keeping
installation.

He tried to install Hauptwerk to his two different computer,
the installer can not complete installation to his two computers.

The two PC'S spec is as follows.

1. PC-1

1.1 OS WINDOWS 10 HOME 64bit
1.2 CPU Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU J1900 @1.99GHz
(Resource monitor shows that CPU has 4 cores)
1.3 Memory 4GB, Available memory space is 3.84GB
1.4 SDD 50GB

Virusbuster ( Trendmicro ) is installed.

2. PC-2

1.1 OS WINDOWS 10 HOME 64bit
1.2 CPU Intel(R) Core i3 4000M CPU @2.40GHz QuadCore
1.3 Memory 4GB, Available memory space is 3.5GB
1.4 SDD 55GB

Virusbuster ( Trendmicro ) is installed.

I think these PC's meet the prerequisites.

Please advise the idea to solve this problem if you have.

For experience of other software a few virus detection systems can make installation of new software very slow or almost impossible. Have you tried to install with the virus detection software turned off?
If you try this:
1. Down load the HW installer from the Hauptwerk site (hauptwerk.com). Make certain this is where the software is coming from. Your system should scan the install package as a part of the download - if not scan the installer manually.
2. Disconnect from the internet (turn off the wifi and or unplug any wired connection)
3. Temporarily disable/turn off the virus detection system
4. Try the installation again
I think it should complete within 20 minutes!
Before you connect to the Internet again turn on your virus detection software!

Good luck.

Agreed, I always have to switch off my antivirus protection (McAfee) before installing HW.

Hello Akihiko,

(Topic moved here.)

I too would suspect the virus scanner as the root of the problem. I have no problems using the current versions of McAfee or Norton when installing Hauptwerk, but virus scanners do sometimes cause problems for people when trying to install software and we have had cases in the past where people have had virus scanners that would cause Hauptwerk's installer to hang or run so slowly that it appeared to have hung (perhaps since Hauptwerk's installer contains a lot of large compressed files). Try disabling the virus scanner temporarily while installing Hauptwerk.
Best regards, Martin.

windows 10/64, takes up a lot of resources;
from one fo the forums.
"After installing Windows 10, I had the issue with the Runtime Broker taking ~30% of my CPU. I found the fix (at least for me) by going to Settings -> System -> Notifications & actions and unselecting "Show me tips about Windows." It immediately fixed the processor usage when I disabled it, and immediately came back when I re-enabled it. I couldn't find this anywhere, so I thought it could help a couple people if I posted it somewhere, at least.
I recorded the weirdness here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Yg_ZdhE4rI "

My PC is a i7 8 thread with 16 gigs of ram, setting the time broker to 4 - disable solved many problems.
You PCs might not have enough grunt or memory. 4 gigs of ram is not enough for some of the organs.

Turning off the internet and antivirus software, is a good start.
