Lack of RAM?

PostWed Mar 15, 2017 4:46 pm

My computer has 8GB of RAM, running on Hauptwerk 3.30 and the Cappel Schnitger sample set works very well.
However Hereford Volume 1 won't load, displaying a lack of memory warning. Also both Cappel and St. Anne's both take a very long time to load even after the first time.
Any thoughts?

Either you need to increase your physical RAM or load the sample set using a different resolution. The requirements for Hereford Volume 1 are here:

http://www.lavenderaudio.co.uk/organs/h ... page9.html

Assuming that you have > 4605MB available when HW has loaded (see the RAM meter) you should be able to load using 20 bit lossless compression, otherwise you may need to load using 20 or 16 bit resolution.

I would also suggest updating to the latest version of Hauptwerk . (V 4.2.1.003). It uses RAM more efficiently for one.

Hello meantone,

We could have a look via a diagnostic file from you, to see what clues it might give and what we might be able to suggest, but we'd need you to upgrade to v4. (Hauptwerk version 3 was superseded by version 4 in 2011, and v3 is no longer supported in any way, I'm afraid.)

There are many, many major improvements in v4 above v3, so hopefully you would consider it worthwhile upgrading anyway:

https://www.hauptwerk.com/clientuploads/documentation/ReleaseNotices/Current/HauptwerkReleaseNotice.pdf

If you do decide to upgrade, and since I see you're in the U.K., you could order an upgrade either from our U.K. reseller (Douglas Henn-Macrae) here:

http://en.midi-organs.eu/index.php/shop/software/hauptwerk )

... or directly from us here:

http://store.hauptwerk-europe.com/Upgrades_c_30.html

Thanks in advance!
Best regards, Martin.
