Ped Bass coupler

I do not have access to a midi pedal board at present, am currently using St Anne set and find this coupler very useful. I would like to try other sample sets. Could someone please tell me whether the coupler is specific to St Anne's or whether it is a built-in feature of HW and there available across all sample sets.
