Resource to look up assigned OrganIDs?

Postby 162_Ranks » Wed Aug 30, 2017 9:37 pm

I'd like to clean up my cache for organs that I don't play much. It would be very helpful if I could see which organIDs corresponded to which organs, so I can see which are using a lot of space and remove or load in 16 bit if I don't use them often. Is there a table online of what organ ids have been assigned by MDA and to what organs?

I don't believe any such list exists. A while back I started collecting IDs for a project I was working on but that project stalled. It would still be handy to have such a list for various reasons. If there is interest I could find my old notes and set up a rudimentary website with a list. If other folks would contribute IDs for organs that they own or create I could add them to the list. Let me know if I can help.

To add to John's reply, this previous topic also discusses it: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=16203

So I did a bit of magic on my Mac to search the OrganIds out of the definition files. It depends on the organ name being on the line after the id, which seems to be the case in almost all cases.

The magic line is:
grep Identification_UniqueOrganID * -A 1 -h | awk '{$1=$1};1' > ~/Downloads/organs.cs

run from within the HauptwerkSampleSetsAndComponents/OrganDefinitions folder.

This will only work on Macs (or Windows if you install a bash shell like cygwin)

I then took this file and formatted it a bit in Excel to get this list of my organs.

162_Ranks, this is a smart script! Thanks for sharing!

Can you extend the script and add the RequiredInstallationPackages for each UniqueOrganID?

The grep will probably not get any results from encrypted organ definition files.

I have set of Python programs which produce various reports from a HW installation which I wrote for my own interest. I'm thinking about sharing these if there is interest from other users. They need a little more work to ensure they are robust.
