Change Name of Organ

PostMon Feb 19, 2018 8:10 am

Hi,
I want do change the Names of installed Organs for a better identifikation.

f.e.
Organ xyz ---> organ xyz 3 Man 34 Stops
Is this possible?
My other idea is, to change the name in the definition files,
but then I must delete and reinstall, and I don't know about sideffects.

Thanks for answer

Hello minktor,

Are you referring to:

1. The full name of the organ (as displayed via the 'Organ | Load organ ...' browser, and in the title bar of Hauptwerk's main window when the organ is loaded), or:

2. The 'short name', which is displayed in Hauptwerk's control panels?
Best regards, Martin.

If possible both,
if not, then priority "load organ list".

Hello Arp/minktor,

There isn't currently a supported method for you to change an organ's short-name (unless it's a Custom Organ Design Module CODM organ definition), I'm afraid, but we do have an enhancement request logged covering adding functionality to allow the user to customise the short-names of any organs. I've added your notes to that enhancement request.

Hello again minktor,

In case you're referring to customising the 'full name' then that name is just the filename of the organ definition file ('ODF', in the [Hauptwerk installation folder]/HauptwerkSampleSetsAndComponents/OrganDefinitions folder). (Although it isn't officially supported), you can just rename the relevant organ definition file there. (The organ's cache will then be regenerated automatically next time it's loaded.) However, please be very careful not to move/rename/delete any of Hauptwerk's other files or folders accidentally, and please also be aware that the component installer would then no longer overwrite the relevant ODF with any future updates that the maker of the relevant sample set might produce for it, so you would then need to delete the existing renamed ODF after installing any update to the sample set that included an updated version of the ODF, then rename the newly-installed updated ODF back to your desired custom name.

We do also have an enhancement request logged to allow the 'full names' to be customised that are displayed to the user, and I've added your notes to that enhancement request too.

Edit: P.S. I see we both replied at the same time.
Best regards, Martin.
