I can't seem to get more than 2000 pipes on the polyphony testing organ 4GB. I would expect that computer to perform much better than my old Mac Pro from 2006 (8 core Xeon X5355 2.66GHz, 32GB RAM), which gets about 11000 pipes using the same exact test scenario.
What gives here? Might it have something to do with AVX support?
Hi,
Since you did not give the exact number of the processor (Xeon E5-xxxxx) I can not tell which of the 4 core processors you are using. However about half of the ones listed were in the 2GHz operating speed and had no Hyperthreading i.e 4 cores, 4 threads. If you have one of those processors, it would appear it would run much more slowly than the 8 core, 16 thread 2.66 GHz processor.
