Viscount piston settings.... so close!!

PostThu Jul 26, 2018 6:12 am

Hi all,

I think I'm really close to being able to configure Hauptwerk to respond to my Viscount's pistons.

The midi signals being received are:

Gen Can: 240 049 047 108 000 247. (Raw hex bytes: F0 31 2F 6C 00 F7.)

Gt 1: 240 049 065 105 000 247. (Raw hex bytes: F0 31 41 69 00 F7.)
Gt 2: 240 049 065 105 001 247. (Raw hex bytes: F0 31 41 69 01 F7.)
Gt 3: 240 049 065 105 002 247. (Raw hex bytes: F0 31 41 69 02 F7.)

etc

Can anyone translate these into the relevant Hauptwerk settings? I have a feeling that I need to use the momentary piston option.

Any advice greatly received!

Many thanks,

Richard

Hi Richard,

These are MIDI SYSEX messages, I'm not sure whether HW can/will auto detect these.

If not, it looks as though you might be able to set them up manually:

Right click on the HW piston you want to control.

Choose "Adjust MIDI/trigger stings manually..."

Under 'Primary Input' choose the Input: setting "Generic MIDI sysex constant messages" and tick the 'momentary piston' box just below.

Use the scroll bar on the right hand bottom of the setup screen and scroll to the bottom.

Enter the numeric information into the first six boxes.

Press 'OK' and hope for the best.

I can't/haven't confirmed that this will work, but it looks as though it ought to.

Hi Richard,

Have a look at this video that explains how to configure the Midi on a Viscount Organ.

Nick - thank you so much! That worked perfectly! All pistons are now configured and working within Hauptwerk.

I read a few Viscount posts on here with people experiencing similar issues, and I was worried that the pistons weren’t going to work.

Best wishes,

Richard
