Bus allocation algorithms

PostSat Dec 21, 2019 5:19 pm

At one time, in HW 4, I think I had read that the rank id and note number both played a role in assigning a pipe to an output within the audio group. That may have been specific to the default allocation algorithm, which I prefer to use with my speaker arrangement. It appears to work that way in HW 5 as well for the samplesets I’ve checked.

I wanted to confirm that the rank id is still used in the default algorithm since the help text on the new note offset parameter only mentions the MIDI note number but not the rank id. Thanks.

Here’s the specific post I had read. Is this still accurate for HW 5?

viewtopic.php?f=17&t=16088&p=120807&hilit=cycled+rank+id#p120807

Also, is the rank seq num computed on all the rank ids or only the loaded ranks?

Thank you.

Hello nmailor,

Yes -- the 'ranks cycled' algorithms take the organ definition's RankIDs into account in the same way that v4 did (especially so that v4 voicing/routing settings get migrated correctly), then incrementing them by the user-specific note offset. The other algorithms (e.g. the 'ranks constant' versions) don't use the RankIDs (just the user-specified note offset).
Best regards, Martin.
