Can't stop MIDI device

HI all,

Quite a lot seems to have changed since I last filed a support request !

I'm on V4.2 and occasionally hit an error message on startup saying one of my MIDI devices can't be stopped.
No changes have been made to my PC/Midi configuration since last booting HW.
The only way I can fix the problem is to re-boot my PC and start HW again. All then works well.

Has anyone else hit this problem ?

Hello John,

Briefly (since we no longer officially support Hauptwerk v4), the problem will be that the PC is losing/dropping communication with that MIDI device for some reason. That might happen if Windows puts the USB-MIDI device to sleep (check the Windows power settings, and disable the advanced option for putting USB devices to sleep), or if there's insufficient USB bus power, or if you plug in or unplug USB devices whilst Hauptwerk is running (make sure you exit Hauptwerk before connecting/disconnecting any hardware).

I've disabled the USB power setting as you recommended. Hopefully that will do the trick.
Other than this very minor niggle I find v4.2 totally reliable and Hereford continues to fully meet my needs for daily practice.
