Is HW 5 or 6 Mac M1 compatible?

I have HW 5.0.1 working on a MacBook Pro running Big Sur. I just purchased a 2020 Mac Mini running Big Sur with the M1 chip and migrated from the MBP. HW crashes and will not start up on the Mac Mini. Is HW compatible with M1? If not, is an update imminent?

Hello sorg2062,

[Topic moved here.]

Neither Hauptwerk v5 nor v6.0 are officially supported on Apple-CPU ('M1') Macs, and we don't currently have native Apple-CPU ports of Hauptwerk available, I'm afraid. The officially-supported platforms are listed in the prerequisites: https://www.hauptwerk.com/wp-content/up ... isites.pdf .

We do hope to make a native port of Hauptwerk for Apple-CPU hardware in the longer-term, but it will be a rather sizeable undertaking and it isn't something that will be available soon: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=18807&p=141605#p141605

Nonetheless, some people have tried installing Hauptwerk v6 on M1 Macs and reported that it worked for them under Apple's 'Rosetta' software: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=19285

I would expect Hauptwerk v5.0.1 to work under Rosetta to the same extent that v6 would, given that the underlying platforms are the same (although v6 uses the latest iLok libraries, which might possibly make a difference to compatibility).

Assuming that you managed to get Hauptwerk to install properly on your M1 Mac, I would suggest first making sure that you have the latest version iLok License Manager installed: https://ilok.com/ . If that doesn't solve it, you could perhaps try posting something in the above thread ( viewtopic.php?f=16&t=19285 ) to see whether the people who tried it successfully have any tips about getting it to launch.

I hope that's of some help.

The answer to my original questions is YES. I have HW 5.0.1 working. Originally I migrated HW 5.0.1 installed on an Intel Mac to my 2020 Mac Mini. This caused HW to crash rather than starting up. I downloaded the 5.0.1 Install on the M1 computer and reinstalled and no further crashes. After going through a few installation steps, HW seems to be working fine. Since I activated Rosetta on another App, Rosetta automatically runs on any Intel based apps.

Thanks
