Generals on Swell Foot Pistons

It's not uncommon on English organs to have a console control allowing foot pistons to be swapped between Swell and Generals. Is there any way to accomplish this in Hauptwerk for samples sets that don't provide it natively?

There's no natively functionality in Hauptwerk for that currently (except for whatever sample sets might provide), I'm afraid. I'll log it as an enhancement request.

Two possibilities occur to me. You could use one of the Alt Hauptwerk configurations as having the toe pistons detected as Swell, whereas the main config would have them as Generals. Not entirely convenient, as you'd have to reload HW and the sample set whenever you wanted to change.

The other method would require more knowledge of MIDI wiring. If for example you have 8 pistons, and your pistons are wired in an 8 based matrix, you could switch the common between two commons (assuming there's at least one unused) on your MIDI encoder, thus making them appear to HW at one of two addresses each, which could be both detected, and the switch would determine which addresses would be sent.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, there are a number of ways of accomplishing it outside of Hauptwerk, both hardware and software. I was wondering if it could be done natively within Hauptwerk.

Whilst requesting enhancements, it occurs that combination couplers would be useful as well -- Great and Pedal Combinations Coupled is common. When looking at some specs of Harrison organs, it seems they often provide separate functions to couple the great combinations to the pedal pistons vs. coupling the pedal combinations to the great pistons. That's probably a useful bit of flexibility too if it could be provided. Of course one can use scoped combinations in Hauptwerk to simulate the coupled combinations, but I'm not aware of a way to quickly change the scope of a group of pistons if one wanted to "uncouple" them.
