Hauptwerk on a different machine

PostSat Jan 02, 2021 9:19 am

I've purchased a PC with more RAM Capacity - my old one had 8GB and found Hauptwerk a bit of a struggle!

I've installed Hauptwerk and I-LOK on the new machine BUT there's no reference to my monthly subscriptions in I-LOK. The only thing that's showing is the original expired demo.

I appreciate this might be an I-LOK question but hope that someone out there has had the same issue when redeploying Hauptwerk.

Thanks

Hello Davred61,

[Topic moved here.]

On your new PC, in iLok License Manager, make sure that you're signed in (button at the top-left) and that your iLok Cloud session is open ('File | Open Your Cloud Session'). You should then be able to launch Hauptwerk as normal, since it will be able to see the licences that are in your iLok Cloud.
Best regards, Martin.

Thanks - that worked just fine.

All good again.

Sorry to have to reopen this @mdyde!

I've having exactly the same trouble as I described before but this time even though I'm signed into the cloud on ILok, I have no licences available. The Hauptwerk V6 entry is showing as an expired demo on 16th Jan.

My monthly subscription went out on 4-Jan.
Any suggestions please?

Thanks

Hello Davred61,

From a quick look in PACE's system, I see that your monthly Lite Edition subscription (which is valid until 4th February) isn't showing as having been activated to your iLok Cloud account. Please try:

- Launch iLok License Manager.
- Make sure you're signed in.
- Make sure you iLok Cloud session is open.
- Right-click click on the Lite Edition subscription licence (which will currently probably show as expiring on 4th February, in case there are also and other entries for the Lite Edition), then select 'activate', and select iLok Cloud when asked where to activate it.

Does that solve it?
Best regards, Martin.

Morning Martin,

Thanks for responding!

I've logged on to iLOK Manager and Davred61's Cloud but it's showing 0 licences and 0 activations.

The only place where any licences appear is on the Study2 on the Local Tab!

Is there any way I can send a screenshot?

Thanks again

Thanks, David.

Do you mean that you have two computers that you use with Hauptwerk?

If so, in iLok License Manager (iLM), please:

- On both of your computers, make sure that your iLok Cloud session is closed, for good measure.

- On the computer you currently want to use with Hauptwerk, (re-)open your iLok Cloud session. (PACE's system currently shows your Cloud session as being in the closed state.)

- On that computer, go to the 'Available' tab in iLM.

Do you see any entries there for 'Hauptwerk Lite Edition'?
Best regards, Martin.

So Martin - I used to have Hauptwerk installed on one machine but moved to a higher spec (more RAM!!) machine.

Neither Hauptwerk nor iLok Licence Manager application are installed on the old machine.

Is it worth running the 'on-line' version on the old machine to make sure the cloud connection is inactive on the old machine?

Thanks...and sorry for being a pain!

No -- in that case, don't worry about that -- that shouldn't be necessary. Please just try my remaining steps, and let us know the results:

Hi Martin - OK just to be sure, I uninstalled ILM from the new PC, downloaded the 64bit version (which incidentally still installs in Program Files(x86)) and tried again.

1. I login successfully.
2. Davred61's Cloud is showing as 'open on 25/01/2021 at 10:29'
3. The available tab is showing 0.

Something odd!!

Thanks, David.

I'm not sure why that would be (and PACE's system still shows your iCloud session as having a status 'closed'), so I've asked Francois to have a look. He deals with these things every day, so he'll probably know what's wrong and how to solve it.
Best regards, Martin.

Hello David,

I had a look at your account and what I see is that your subscription (monthly) renewed on Jan 4th and was never activated. Also your session was closed on Dec 30th (even though you're saying that everything is working on Jan 2nd...)

The only computer known by iLOK is your computer named Study (First seen Sept 4th) . Seem to be your "old computer", meaning that iLOK never "saw" your new computer

Try the following.

1. Download and install iLOK Manager (latest version) on your new computer.
2. Start iLOK Manager (that you just installed on your new computer) and log with your iLOK credentials
3. Go to File | Close all cloud sessions (will probably be greyed out, so that's ok, no need to click. If not greyed out, click to close the session)
4. Right-click your Hauptwerk license and select ACTIVATE
5. Go to File | Open my cloud session
6. Start Hauptwerk.

Note that the actual license is valid till February 4th. A new license will be deposited on that date. You will need to activate it so you can continue to use Hauptwerk. (step 4 above)

If it still doesn't work, send me a diagnostic file (in Hauptwerk go to Help | Create a diagnositic...) and also your ilok password to support [at] hauptwerk.com (important: don't post your password on this forum)

Let me know how it goes
Best regards
François
