Copy audio settings to another instance of HW?

PostFri Apr 09, 2021 10:51 am

Hi all,

Although I was an expert at this with v4 (and it was much easier to understand), I will admit I have yet to take the plunge and go with v6 as I'm still trying to get my head wrapped around setting up audio with v5, so hopefully I can get some help here. I have my 10 channels of audio set up in one instance of Hauptwerk (was copied from v4 when I upgraded) that I use 99% of the time, all the other instances are either not set up with anything or are not the same. So, I'd simply like to copy the audio set-up I use most of the time to another instance so in one instance I can use my wet sets, and in the other I'd like to add reverb to dry sets, but use the same audio set-up.

Is there an easy way to copy an audio arrangement from one instance to another?

Thanks,

Marc

Hello Marc,

You can use Hauptwerk's backup/restore mechanism to copy *all* settings (audio, MIDI, everything, ...) from one configuration to another, but you can't copy just audio settings, I'm afraid.

It isn't currently possible to copy settings from one audio mixer preset to another, but we do aim to include that ability in a future version.
Best regards, Martin.

Hello Martin,

Perfect! I didn't even think about the other settings, but that would actually work even better and I then get all copied at once. Thanks for the tip and the quick reply!

Hello Martin,
Well, unfortunately your suggestion did not work. Just to be sure we're on the same page here's what I did: I first opened the HW configuration that has the settings I want to apply to the second configuration and did a backup first. Once it finished I closed that instance of HW and opened the one (alt. config 2) I wanted to apply the backup to. I did a 'restore from backup' and selected the backup I just did, when it was finished it said the backup would apply when I launched that instance of HW again, clicking OK and it closes. Reopening that configuration again I loaded the organ and nothing has changed, it did not copy anything, still only 2 channels of audio, no names I gave the outputs, no reverb, no copy of the MIDI part for keyboards, buttons, pedal, etc. It acts as if it's a completely new install. I'm assuming what's happening is the backup is simply copying and reapplying the same settings to the other configurations as they were before the backup. There must be something I missed in your explanation.

Stumped :?:

Hello Marc,

When run the "RESTORE" from your HW Alt-config 2, you must:

1. select in the interface mode window "Advanced",
2. in the Configurations to restore window select "Just restore settings...,
3. in the Source configuration select Primary configuration (if the audio settings that you want to restore are from the primary Hauptwerk configuration)

This will restore the Hauptwerk configuration to Hauptwerk Alt-config2

Hello Francois,

That little bit of extra information did the trick! We're all good now. Thumbs up!
