MasterWorks331 couldn't be extracted

PostSun Nov 05, 2023 6:33 am

I have recently purchased MasterWorks331
I have Hauptwerk 8 Advanced
Windows 11 Intel i7 11th gen, 64 GB RAM
I have had Paramount 320, 310 & St Annes running well
I have installed the new iLok license to my iLok Dongle (for MW331)

Trying to "Install Organ" MasterWorks331, after it works away at it for a little while
I get the error "couldn't be extracted"
I have downloaded the file a second time. All appears ok with the download, but still the same error.
I have downloaded on a second computer, but still the same error.

Is there a step I am missing?
Any suggestions please for how I fix this?
What further detail do you need from me?

Thank you
Rick

Hello Rick,

Thanks very much for purchasing the sample set.

The downloaded file should have *exactly* the following size and MD5 checksum:

MasterWorks331.CompPkg_Hauptwerk_rar
Size: 3,605,979,835 bytes.
MD5 checksum: bb86894e9c9dc8c6d3f8c095d85e49c0

This is how to check the exact size of a downloaded file:
- On Windows: right-click on the file and select "Properties". (Ignore its "Size on disk", which may vary and isn't the file's true size.)
- On macOS: right-click on the file and select "Get Info". (Likewise, ignore its "Size on disk".)
... and how to check the MD5 checksum of a file:
- On Windows: you can use a freeware utility, such as this one: https://www.winmd5.com/
- On macOS: https://osxdaily.com/2009/10/13/check-m ... n-your-mac

Does it have exactly that size and checksum? If not, it didn't download properly (e.g. perhaps the download server is overloaded at the moment).
Best regards, Martin.

Thank you for your reply Martin

The download I am getting from the link in my Hauptwerk account is 2,096,583 KB (in fact the last three digits vary with each attempted download)
No, the Checksum doesn't match

I have further downloaded this file at least 10 times, across two different computers, each with two different browsers, and have also tried using a download manager. Every attempt stops at the 2 GB point with no indication of a fault or error.

I am at a loss as to what more I can do?

by the way, the link to the MasterWorks331 User Guide is completely broken and leads to a "File Not Found" page.
Can you please see if there is anything you can do on your side for the MasterWorks331?

Thank you
Rick

Thanks, Rick, and our apologies for the problems.

I'm not sure what gets included in MDA's order confirmation mails, but I just tried downloading via the link in the document that was posted here (which has download links to all of MDA's sample sets), and it downloaded properly (and in full) for me via that link, as did the user guide for the sample set:

viewtopic.php?f=10&t=17988

The downloads in that document point are hosted on Amazon Web Services. which should be very fast and reliable.

Are you able to download them successfully via that route?
Best regards, Martin.

Thank you Martin

The user guide works.
I will now try the MW331 package.

Martin,

Thank you for this!

I just went rounds with this same issue, exactly as Rick described - downloaded at least 15 times, on different computers, (even Mac vs PC, using different browsers, wired gigabit, even tried wireless) and every single download was a slightly different file size.

Your link from the PDF file published by MDA did the trick and worked perfectly.

I would suggest that MDA or someone fix this, but, alas no doubt they won’t.

As always, thank you for keeping the ship upright and pointed in the right direction.
