FTP server, emailing Martin.

PostThu Oct 30, 2003 7:42 pm

I tried to send an email to Martin Dyde to request details on connecting to the FTP server. I got a bounce back from his mail server:

-------------------------------------
A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

martin.dyde@hauptwerk.co.uk
SMTP error from remote mailer after RCPT TO:<martin.dyde@hauptwerk.co.uk>:
host mail.hauptwerk.co.uk [12.129.211.145]: 550-Host smtp6.mindspring.com [207.69.200.110] is not permitted
550-to relay through host45.ipowerweb.com.
550-Perhaps you have not logged into the pop/imap server in the last 30 minutes.
550-You may also have been rejected because your ip address
550-does not have a reverse DNS entry.
550 relaying to <martin.dyde@hauptwerk.co.uk> prohibited by administrator
---------------------------------------

Martin - if you see this can you please email this information to:
todd dot parker at mindspring dot com
(turn the " dot " into "." and the " at " into "@")

Thanks.

I've sent you the information. I'm no expert in these matters, but it looks as though there was some sort of DNS problem en route, (seemingly with mindspring.com?) or maybe my mail server has mindspring.com 'blacklisted' for some reason?

I've done a few tests and I can send and receive mails from other domains, so I think it may just be something to do with mindspring.com or your mail server?

If anyone else has any problems getting mails to me, please do post something here, and I'll get it investigated.

Thanks,
Martin.
