Scorze, Venice - Callido-Pugina-Zanin organ now available

Postby Csaba Huszty » Sat Dec 17, 2016 9:59 am

Dear All,

It is my pleasure to announce the immediate availability of a beautiful Venetian organ from Scorze, Italy. Scorze, famous for its clear water, is featured as a first in a coming series of Italian organs. The instrument was built by Pugina, who reused parts from the historic Callido organ there, and then Zanin restored it recently, in 2010. The 20-stop 2+P instrument takes just 6 GB to download but comes with 4k and HD graphics, landscape and portrait, for any screen size and projection.

Hello Csaba and fellow Hauptwerkians,

This little organ is a pleasure to play. As such, I have uploaded two Bach Preludes (BWV 541 in C Minor and BWV 546 in G Major) to the Contrebombarde Concert Hall.

This little Italian organ is very responsive to one's touch; I enjoy combining legato- and detaché fingering in these preludes. In both cases, I registered the pieces with mainly only one to three stops per manual; nowhere did I draw all 20 stops. Although relatively few in number, each 8' stop (especially) is capable of holding its own, without having to keep drawing additional stops to supplement the tone. In the G Major Bach Prelude, I did make the tracker noises louder so they could be heard more readily in this one recording. The stock, out-of-the-box tracker noises are voiced correctly, in my opinion.

Thank you for making this instrument available to the Hauptwerk community!

Cheers,

Joe

A couple of days ago, I found this lovely surround sample set by chance. The graphical representation is -- as always with IA -- a class of its own. The church has a beautiful acoustics. The samples have been recently updated using new audio signal processing techniques. The result is awesome! Csaba, thank you very much for doing that!

This organ sounds quite interesting, definitely quite distinct. It's a pity it's only in 2 channel though, which is a deal breaker for me.

According to IA's website, there is a 4-channel surround version in preparation. Let's keep our fingers crossed, that this happens soon, as this would a very welcome addition.

Q: are we supposed to download all those files? That may take a while.
Is the demo fully functional with occasional chimes or sound cutouts?

Thanks!

A: Yes, it is a time-limited demo with occasional silences. But I have the impression that the demo contains all samples. That is the reason, why the download is so big. Maybe Csaba can help with more details.

Hi,

Yes, the demo contains all sounds - make sure to download the updates, too. We will re-compile this in the near future into a single demo package.

If I may be so bold as to state that we would benefit greatly from more sound samples and demonstrations on contrebombarde. Thanks in advance.

Hello Adri,

Per your encouragement, I have uploaded three additional pieces to the CBCH that involve the Scorze organ: 1) Gabrieli's Canzona per Sonare No. 2, and two pieces by Bach (Fugue á la Gigue BWV 577, and the Prelude in E Minor BWV 548, commonly associated with the "Wedge Fugue".) They were all recorded last year but have never been posted to the Contrebombarde Concert Hall. Thanks again for you encouragement.

Enjoy,

Joe
