1956 Klais Organ of Cologne Cathedral for Hauptwerk ??

PostSun Aug 21, 2016 5:20 am

Hello everyone,

does anyone know if there would be a sampleset of the 1956 Klais Organ of Cologne Cathedral/ "Kölner Dom" in Germany in future ?

I think it's a very special organ with an amazing sound.

Maybe someone can tell me if it's planed.

I'm sorry for my English. I'm german so it's not so easy for me to post something in this forum

Best regards

If that instrument were to be sampled, and done WELL, I'd be first in line to throw my money at it.

BUT...

I seriously doubt it will be available for Hauptwerk. Maybe someone knows something I don't.

I'm from Cologne and know the Cathedral ("Hoher Dom") very well. I doubt that there is any chance to sample the organ. First there are two Klais-organs: The older one (but very well) and the new one called the "Schwalbennest-Orgel" because it is placed in an unusual place high in the "main floor" like the home of an high-flying bird.

The main problem: The cathedral is open to the public every day the week from the morning till the late evening, hosting every day (!) thousands of visitors. There is a lot of noise and no chance for any kind of sampling. During the night there should be also no chnace because at this time most international guest organists etc, are playing.

Therefore we should forget this.

Thx telemanr :))
Ok :D Yes i Know, the main organ was meant. Another thing: you can couple both organs. So there Would be an incredible sampleset.

Yes. That was what I thought about. They are playing at night. But not each night or ?! (Ja klar habe ich mir auch gedacht, aber die spielen doch nicht jede Nacht oder ?)

That's too bad ...

organplayer you forgot to mention the high pressure Tubas that were installed 2006 and are the most poerfull organ stops in germany.
