Dom Bedos & truncation

PostFri Dec 09, 2016 10:19 am

Hello All,

I have a very strange behaviour, specific to Dom Bedos sample set. It seems impossible to set a release sample truncation. In this case the organ is completely silent; only the full release works. Jiri Zurek has made the test on his configuration and was not able to reproduce this issue. In the same HW configuration, all the other organs work perfectly with a truncation. Does anyone have an idea of what could happen?

Hello Luc,

I don't have first-hand experience with that particular sample set. (I could potentially contact Jiri to see whether he could provide us with a copy if needed, although that would probably take a day or two.)

If you temporarily load the sample in a 'spare' configuration ('Hauptwerk (alt config N)' desktop short-cut), with just a single stereo audio output configured, and with just a single rank loaded (for speed), can you then reproduce the issue?
Best regards, Martin.

Hello Martin,

Yes, I did exactly what you suggest too, with the same result. Jiri just wrote me to say he cannot reproduce the problem himself. Perhaps other owners of this sample set may give us more information. That’s very strange…

An additional information: this issue does not occur with the demo version.

Hello Luc,

Thanks for the update.

I'll wait for a few days to see what other people say, and then contact Jiri about obtaining a copy here to investigate if needed.
Best regards, Martin.

Yes, Martin, that’s the best way. Fortunately, this is not urgent because, in the meantime, I can play with the original acoustic, not bad at all. Many thanks for your help.

Hello Martin,

Jiri has found the right explanation: Dom Bedos has particularly LONG breath-in time, so, after the organ is loaded, you should wait about 20-30 seconds (!) to get the bellows working. So, if you are testing the organ quickly after loading, you will not hear any sound.

There is no bug in this wonderful sample set. Thanks again for your offer of help.

Cordially,
Luc

Hello Luc,

Thanks for the update. Excellent -- glad to hear it turned out not to be a problem.
