Looking for an instrument to record

PostMon Apr 24, 2017 3:34 am

Hello everyone,
I'm running website http://www.piotrgrabowski.pl with free sample sets for Hauptwerk. I almost finished my last sample set and I'm thinking about the next one. I thought that maybe you can arrange some instrument for the recording and then I will come and record it. I think about my closest neighbourhood (I live in south Poland) like Germany, Czech Republic, maybe Austria, where is a lot of high quality instruments and where I can get by car without ruining my budget. I thought it would be great to record some bigger baroque instrument (or its reconstruction). I guess I shouldn't dream about Silbermanns, but maybe something similar will be possible to arrange. Such baroque instruments are very hard to find in my region.
So, if you are able to arrange the recording (get the permission) of an instrument in good shape, let me know. Of course, as all of my sample sets, this one will be free too. I will cover my travel costs somehow, because I hope it will be worth it.

Warm regards,
Piotr

Go to the website Historic Organs of Poland - American Public Media.
Maybe you'll find something there that suits you.

I don't know if there are many Hauptwerkians in your region. But suppose someone in England or the US can give you access to an excellent instrument, what about crowdfunding your travel costs?

I would donate! The Mt. Angel Abbey organ in Oregon isn't overly large and has a nice acoustic. I'd love to see it sampled some day.

That said, I don't have special access to the organ and have no idea if they would be open to having it sampled.

I would suggest the organ of Attel, near Wasserburg in Bavaria. Its a new build (2013, II/P, 22 stops) in an historic baroque case, but in the style of the original builder Anton Bayr from Munich of 1769. The original stoplist (including preserved 4 stops from 1769) was reconstructed and some stops Bayr had realised on other organs were added. The church has a very nice acoustics and is a rather quiet place (former monastery, turned in a place for mentally disabled people), theres a quite busy road (B15) right next to it, but you dont really hear it, because of the rather steep hill the church is built on.
Info about the organ from the organbuilders website http://www.orgelbau-linder.de/Attel.htm (german)
I don't know how open the organbuilder would be about sampling the organ...
Unfortunately I don't have any connection to the organ commission of that church, but I believe they could be persuaded, maybe for a small donation...

I'll probably record few instruments in Austria in July probably, thanks to one of users.
Please write if you have real chance to arrange recording.

Fantastic to hear your call has had some results! And we don't have too many instruments from Austria recorded for Hauptwerk. Looking forward to the results!
