is there a list of organs playable on the free HW edition?

PostMon Mar 12, 2018 6:03 pm

I need this for a friend who I just getting started in HW.

This means a complete as possible list, even of older sample sets.

Both of sets that cost money as wall as the free sets.

Would appreciate it a lot; otherwise I have to make this list myself.

The search engine at https://www.hauptwerk.com/instruments/ should provide a good starting point.

It should be pointed out that many in the above exhaustive list can not be played on the HW Free Edition.

Hi Ed,
If you go down the page to the PC Organ page and scroll down to the "Downloadable (freeware, shareware, trial) Samplesets" banner, most under that banner are useable in the Free edition. The exceptions (Demos) are noted with one or two stars next to them. What they don't say is how much memory they take but if they are noted to "load without an HW license" one would need to assume that they are not too large for the Free edition.

And the bulk of the instruments that can be used with the free version are now rather old sets from the earlier days of Hauptwerk, we've seen great strides since then.

To go along with what Ed is pointing out, I think the majority, if not all of the new demos as an example can not be used with the free version simply because they exceed the memory limits and I was already running into this years ago prior to my purchase of the advanced version. I looked at the free version at the time as a way to simply first get started with Hauptwerk, see what I could do with it and so on, but when it came time to making decisions it was pretty frustrating because I was unable to check out any of the newer sets I was interested in.

Pardon me while I scub the egg off my face. I examined the memory size of some of Piotr's files and they are indeed way too large for the free edition. I stand corrected.

I think of the 'Free Edition' as an evaluation package with the St. Anne's organ included. If you like that (and most everybody does) then plan on buying a license. If you are using the Free Edition to avoid buying a license, then you are doing it wrong.

If you need financing, buy an Advanced Edition from organtechnology.com via PayPal and use PayPal's finance plan or a credit card to pay the PayPal invoice. We will then help you set it up, Martin will support your efforts and you won't have to worry about sample set size anymore.

Best regards,

Thomas

You can always load part of sample set to fit the limit.

As I was afraid of, the best way to start with Hauptwerk is to take the actual plunge and get your feet totally wet.

You can start with the Basic Edition and in the future up grade to the Advanced Edition, but really, because of how much more the Advanced Edition offers in comparison, the Advanced Edition really is the best way to enjoy Hauptwerk now as well as in the future. :)

Dear Marc,
Perhaps this is an interesting new set for starting Hauptwerk users. It concerns a small historical cabinet organ. The size of the organ is limited but the sound is beautiful (m.o.). Great for many baroque music. Dry recorded but full stereo. Little memory space required. Polyphony limit free version HW is no problem. Also with the 16bit restriction of the free HW version is a good sound reproduction possible. To be ordered for free via my website.http://home.kpn.nl/legro.

Some good recent free or shareware sample-sets can be used with Hauptwerk Free. For example:
- AVO Gelence http://02.hauptwerk-augustine.info/Gelence-History/
- Legro Honderhorst http://home.kpn.nl/legro/
- VirtualPipes BlasiusKerk of Beckum http://virtualpipes.nl/eng/beckum-gradussen_eng.html
But dont forget some older excellent sample sets as:
- Sygsoft Oosterwijtwerd https://www.hauptwerk.com/index.php?src=gendocs&ref=InstrumentDownloads&category=Downloads page 4
- Piotr Grabowski Melcer http://www.piotrgrabowski.pl/melcer-chamber-music-hall.html
- and St Clement Ledziny http://www.piotrgrabowski.pl/ledziny-st-clement.html
- Sonus Paradis Greccio (Shareware) http://www.sonusparadisi.cz/en/organs/italy/greccio/greccio-software-sample-set.html
If you can spend some few money:
- Prospectum Anloo http://www.prospectum.com/index.php?language=english&id1=2&id2=7
- Voxus Gapinge https://www.voxusorgans.com/fr/product/gapinge

When I was using the free edition, this was one of the very first sample sets I used and is a nice sounding instrument >>> http://www.jeuxdorgues.com/jeux-d-orgue ... s/?lang=en

Here's another I used quite a lot back in the day >>> https://www.appletonaudio.com/sample-sets/

I also still to this day have the Oosterwijtwerd installed and in fact just played around with it the other day! :D
