1884 Walcker, Annaberg: Work in progress

PostWed Dec 12, 2018 1:29 pm

Hello all,

the work is going on and actually you may find a lot of impressions of the very beautiful Gothic St. Annen church, a short introduction into the history of the instrument and the Walcker organ, as well as the designed console pages here:
https://www.organartmedia.com/en/1884-1 ... cker-organ

The crescendo and control pages are still missing and will be published when finished.

The console pages support single and double screens in landscape and portrait format.
All handmade stop and other labels were taken from the original pictures. Please note, that we decided, to modify the stop design for the stops pages. The labels are now included in the stops itself, to achieve an optimal stop layout size.
This stop type is found in many Romantic organs (e.g. Cavaille-Coll), also in early Walcker's .

A lot of considerations were done to break down the horizontal stop arrangement into vertical ones and we hope, you'll like it.

Hello,

Am I right that the Oboe of the II. Manual has a "Windschweller"? So this means, that it is not in a normal swell box, but it's sound will swell by raising the wind pressure? Of course this is then possible, because it is a free reed stop, which pitch is not effected by the wind pressure;like a harmonium. I think it would be the first sample set with this special effect!

Looking forward to this majestic organ!

That's quite interesting. Does that mean volume (via wind pressure) could be controlled as with an expression pedal (of sorts)? Or is this done as with voicing?

Hi,

It normally would be controlled by one of the swell pedals. There are 2 swell pedals in Annaberg: one for the III. Manual and one for the Oboe. But there have been organs where it was controlled by a footlever or even (like a harmonium) by a knee-handle.

The Oboe 8 on Manual II (free reed) is controlled by a wind swell.
We actually try to simulate this with a separate wind compartment, see if we'll are successful.

Hello all,

the Annaberg Walcker-Eule will be released soon.
Actually just working on the complex "Release Notes and Instrument Information".

The pre-ordering will start in May, shipping will be in the course of June.
Details to follow in a separate announcement.

A lot of actual performances are to be found on ConcertHall, search "Annaberg"

Due to several reasons, it took a little bit longer longer than expected :?
Thanks for your patience in waiting for this instrument!
