Dry sample sets

Postby ppytprs » Tue Jan 01, 2019 10:50 am

Hi all.

Is there a list anywhere of dry sample sets. Searching for them is not easy, so perhaps someone comprehensively knows already!

I know about Rotterdam, Caen, Zwolle, Freiburg, and Silver Octopus. What am I missing? Not interested in theatre samples.

Hello,

Sonus Paradisi sells 30 dry sample sets. The list is here: http://www.sonusparadisi.cz/en/organs/variant/dry.html.

Don’t forget the possibility you have to truncate the release in wet sample sets too. See the manual page 76, in the last paragraph.

Velesovo is an excellent dry set that I use. Also the Milan Skinner set. Inspired Acoustics has several I believe although they might be semi-dry. I sure wish there were more bone dry sets out there.

Hello,

(Velosovo is not dry to my ears, but semi-dry. )

Anloo is dry, simple and clear.

Melcer Chamber Music Hall made by Piotr Grabowski is dry too (and free.)

Are we talking about the "dry" version? There are two different versions.

Hello,

dry sample sets are there fortunately some. For me, however, the crucial point is how big the distance between organ and micro is. Many sets, some dry, are relatively indirect recorded. It is the everlasting discussion whether to use nearfield monitors or diffuse roundtable speakers... I would like to hear less the organ in the room (sound like on a CD recording), but how it sounds at the console.

An older, but very nice set is Anloo (Prospectum), which depicts the pipes in great detail.

If there were more such sets of larger organs ....

Kind regards
Sven

Almost dry is also the original version of the Grenzing of Geneva (Augustine's virtual organ). And it is free :) Neo baroque 26 stops.

Hi all,

Gapinge is really nice Sample Set. The small organ is wonderfully recorded directly.
Unfortunately, this organ is missing a Subbass.

Today I got the tip to hear from Sonusparadisi the French organ Menesterol. I immediately bought the sample set (only 58 Euro!). There is also a recording in the organ case (Dry) and a recording on the console (Semi-Dry). A wonderful organ and set! And especially without the annoying copy protection. You can play the instrument immediately and you do not have to wait for activation. A must set for all dry friends with near field monitors.

Kind regards

Hi Sven
I am happy to know that my personal advice was good and that Menesterol Dry is right for you.

... and a great template for all sample set pirates worldwide

Don't understand your statement within the actual debate about massive sample set fraud
