Naxxar: it is flat and with little space

Indeed it is. But it is also an old recording (2012), with microphones that nobody would dare to use now for this kind of work, in very dry stereo, without the slightest reverberation and in the middle of traffic noise. Augustine did what he could with this thankless material. The technique and the knowledge of the sample sets suppliers has improved considerably since then. If as MHPO envisages, a new recording of this organ is done, in better conditions, the sample set version 2.0 will certainly be less flat and more airy.

correct. I also read all the unedifying discussion between Maltese and Augustine .. but this is another story. yes, it's true, it's flat and it's an old sampling, the result is not optimal, but it's free. the fact that it is free raises it from any criticism: do you like it? then use it. you do not like it? do not use it. On the other hand, there is a commercial sample set which, in addition to meeting certain quality requirements, must be ready to receive praise and, unfortunately, criticism, both obviously with due sense

I just received and tested version 1.52 of Bellinzona. I can ear a clear improvement. The sounds are brighter and the bass stronger. The releases have been redone. A swell pedal has been added for the Eco keyboard (which is enclosed for the real organ). New demos have been placed on the web site, which show the progress made.
This sample set, we like it or we do not like it: it's something very personal and which also depends on the sound equipment you are using. Some would have preferred a surround version that would have brought the space that is always lacking a bit to a stereo sample set. But on the other hand, it's a little demanding sample set about memory, which can be full loaded with 16 GB of RAM and its price is well below some of its (few) competitors. For me it's a success and who knows, there may be a version 2 one day.
