Just a quick update on the sale - I’ve extended it through the weekend, so if you want to take advantage, do so by Monday.

Jonathon referred to it as a "fun" instrument to play. From experience now. I can say it is for sure a serious instrument as well. What a huge palette of tonal colors can really make an organist into an artist and at a very good sale price right now.. This is an unsolicited comment and as some may know, I don't make very many such comments over quite some many years now. Found this to be a lot of organ that can be down sized some to be played from a smaller console by picking from the large numbers of stops and selecting only ones you esp like. :D
I did something to that end which no doubt could be considered somewhat unorthodox. Due to not having enough physical drawknobs available presently, I have setup (grouped) some of the similar ranks to be controlled by an individual draw knob (stop).. While I could use touch screens, I personally don't care for that option. The same as I don't esp like typing on glass on my tablet or smart phone. It's just a thing with me. I like the feel of a physical hardware (a draw knob or stop tab) as I do alot of hand registering along with a fairly large combination action. That's another story.

Maybe in a future console that will accommodate me without being a monster taking up a huge amount of real estate. I would be ok with a taller console to one that is super wide. Again, that's just me. Something along the lines of this console:

Regarding the real one, a history of performances - Redlands Casavant Opus 1230:

https://www.google.com/search?q=you+tube+redlands+casavant&rlz=1C1CHBD_enUS840US840&oq=you+tube+redlands+casavant&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i64.29751j1j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

From the 2003 re-dedication, a must read:

http://www.evensongmusic.net/?page_id=2530

"The completely restored Casavant has a decidedly new sound. What was once a thick, heavy tone is now a clean, full, resonant one and the University of Redlands once again possesses one of the finest pipe organs in Southern California."

And then there's this:

But the most amazing piece was likely the Concerto for Organ, Timpani, and Strings by Francis Poulenc. Soloist and world-renowned organist Frederick Swann, whose work has taken him to the major organs of the world, stepped into the Casavant console and did not disappoint, opening the piece with a chord that would have sent the chandeliers crashing if there were chandeliers at Memorial Chapel. Just as suddenly, the organ backed off, with lone, almost sterile notes against the aliveness of the stings. Quiet, then rousing, the organ and strings worked back and forth, until they settled into full integration.

Quite a respectable organ, certainly worthy of "note".

Thanks for the kind words, Ed!

Now that we've done the fixes and upgrades, I really have enjoyed playing the instrument. I hope to generate even more demos, although that will have to wait until early August, as we are closing shop July 19- Aug 1 for summer holiday.
