Hello Jonathan,

Quick question and maybe someone has already asked: Are these recordings 'as is' with the natural acoustics, or are you adding any HW convolution reverb in the recordings?

[chuckle]

First question: do you like the sound?
Second question: If you like the sound, does it matter?

and, yes, for the record, there is a small amount added - this is a 100+rank organ in a very dry (1~1.5sec) room.

Hey Chuckles, err..... I mean Jonathan!

Yes, although it is a bit dry I do like the sound, and yes it may matter as I prefer to get sets that use the natural acoustics only vs. adding reverb. I don't know, just me I guess. That being said, it doesn't necessarily rule out I would not like the set 'as is.' Any chance you could post a few 'as is' recordings?

Thanks,

Fair enough. My personal opinion is that if you can add a little reverb and it sounds better (and you don’t overdo it so it sounds unrealistic) why not? I know some people really can’t bring themselves to do that, because it’s not “real”

Um. Well. You’re playing a digital copy of an instrument... that ship has already sailed.. it ain’t real, folks.

[chuckle]

So, no. I’m going to present the set in a manner where I think is shines the best, and that’s with a little reverb added. That said, for the first time we are going to present a fully-functional demo... you’ll be able to order a demo license to try it out fully with no limitations for 14 days (for a minimal fee to cover our costs for the demo activation code and the time to administrate it). So, you won’t have to rely on demos to make your decision, you can try it out fully and decide by playing the full instrument. What is a “minimal fee” you ask? Probably $2 or so.

We really felt that for an instrument of this size and scope, people need to be able to try the entire thing. I hope it helps folks make an informed decision.

That's great news for anyone interested in this instrument!

Perhaps with more certainty than the outcome of the current USA election,, the organ is in the Pasadena Presbyterian Church. Details here https://ppcmusic.org/pipe-organ/ .
