Which HW Samples have….

PostFri Jul 28, 2023 5:08 pm

Guys…

Which samples actually have cathedral bells as part of the sample set? I don’t think I’ve heard any myself, but surely there must be one or two…

Thanks!

All of our larger models in the Concert Series (75 stop and upwards) have both tubular bells and our renowned church bells (carillon).
They can be added to other sets as a small customisation.

The Lively-Fulcher organ has them - they sound like you’d hear them inside the building.

We have some iLok codes on order, but it will be back in stock soon.

I should make a quick demo of the tower bells - I don’t think there’s one out there.

If you can wait a while, my future sampleset has tubular bells and a carillon. Listen to the bells in this demo:

Hi Pat:

The ones that come to mind are:
Sonus Paradisi Casavant - Bellevue, WA
Piotr Grabowski - Alessandria (best chimes I've heard to date!)
Milan Digital - Mt Carmel Skinner has both Chimes and Carillon

The Sonus Paradisi Reuter Op. 227 has some very nice chimes. I like that they are "expressive" in that they sustain so long as you're still holding the key - they then dampen softly and effectively, only once the key is released (which is how the original chimes behave on the actual instrument.) I like that they don't just ring on for eternity. They also have what sounds like leathered hammers, so you don't get that obnoxiously loud TING on the attack.
