Specification Frustrations.....

PostMon Aug 02, 2004 6:23 pm

Aloha,

Well, I have fiddled with my several Hauptwerk sample sets; and
yet I can't find something I would like to have!

Needed:

1. Desired,

On one manual: Krumhorn 8'
On separate manual: Gemshorn 8'

2.

On one manual: Schalmei (light reed) 8'
On separate manual: Salicional 8' and a Flute 4'

3.

On one manual: Spitzgamba 8'
On separate manual: Gemshorn 8' with Flutes 8' and 4'

4. Etc.

Yes, these are Romantic music needs, and late baroque.
The Gonningen 1844 Engeffried organ by OraganART Media comes
close, but not quite there. "Most" of the other organ sample
sets I have turn out to be really baroque (the two Silbermans,
MDA & OAM organ sample sets) or are "modern" baroque in
spec: the Marcussen, MDA's Casavant, and even
the Evensong Schantz.

The small Cavaille-Coll, also by OrganART Media, is very nice,
but the Grand Orgue with only four stops is just too small.
However, I do enjoy playing Franck with it!!

Prof. Maier has done very well indeed with each of his
sample organ offerings to us!!

I believe I must wait for Milan Digital Audio's coming E. M. Skinner
organ to obtain that for which I long! The St. Anne Moseley is very
close; and I am not really sure what the coming spec. from
Charles at Silver Octopus Studio will contain (hint, hint, hint....).
I am certain the big Willis he is sampling has all the "right stuff"
however.

Guess I am just too romantic or something!!

Looking forward to all the coming goodies, some of which must
wait until next year am afraid: for HW 2 and Microsoft's plodding
development of XP-64.

In spite, am thouroughly enjoying the Hauptwerk sets I now have!

Best,
Jim Reid

Cromorne etc.

I'm just working on a nice Cromorne at the moment. I have also a decent Vox Humana and another Salicional.

Add to that a Corno di Bassetto, Dulciana, Gemshorn and much more.

Soon Jim, Soon..........
