Connecting the stops to MIDI channel

PostTue Aug 17, 2004 12:38 pm

How does one connect the stops to HW ? Can one configure any MIDI
input to any stop via the .organ file or are (say) notes 1-10 reserved for
(say) pedal stops ? I'm wiring up my keyboards / pedals to MIDI
encoders and then using this as the MIDI input to my PC.

Hope this makes sense...I have MIDI channel 4 reserved for stops and
the board can take 32 ON/OFF inputs.

Thanks,
John Dean

Connecting the stops to MIDI channel

PostWed Aug 18, 2004 10:41 am

Hello John,

in the organ-file within the stop-definition (and also with other thinks like couplers or tremulants) there is a command:

StopControlMIDIKeyNumber=

Here you can give the number of the key, which should switch this stop on and off.

At my console, the switches start with Number 36 (the notenumber for the great C, normally the lowest key). If i want to use this switch for this stop, i have to edit the organ-file and insert the line:

StopControlMIDIKeyNumber=36

You also have to set up with the Hauptwerk System Setup the "Stop Control MIDI Input Device" to the channel sending the data for the stops. This is set up by default to MIDI-channel 5.

With best regards and hopefully success - Martin Dümig

Hi Martin,

Many thanks for the reply and it all seems quite straightforward....

I've only just a few days ago completed the MIDI board wiring and now
I'm getting pipe sounds out....really quite an exciting project !

Best regards,
John Dean
