Hello Brett,

In the specification of the Rugwerk, 'Octaaf 8' should be 'Octaaf 4'?

Hi Brett
When I go to the order page, I do not see volume 2 listed. Is it actually available to purchase now?

James,

Open the list (under the picture of the DVD) by clicking the little arrow (right side) and you will see Upgrade from Volume 1 to volume II

Hello James,

You need to use the drop down list which contains all available options for the Hinsz ordering. The default option is for Volume I, but just click the drop down and you'll see the other options.

Thank you.

How many GB needs Volume II in 20 bit Resolution? (multiple loops, uncompressed)

I'll have to leave Brett to give an exact figure for 10-bit compressed if needed, but a very rough estimate would be about half way between 16-bit and 24-bit with all other options the same.

From the requirements page:

Volume II-16 bit, single loops, compressed 3.73 GB (3,912,352 KB)
Volume II-(Default) 16 bit, multiple loops, compressed 4.2 GB (4,400,680 KB)
Volume II-24 bit, single loops, compressed 7 GB (7,308,544 KB)
Volume II-24 bit, multiple loops, compressed 7.85 GB (8,241,400 KB)
Volume II-24 bit, multiple loops, uncompressed Approx. 15+ GB

... a very rough estimate for 20-bit compressed (all loops etc.) would be about 6 GB (half way between 4.2 GB and 7.85 GB).

Are you sure you want to use it uncompressed? There's absolutely no difference at all in audio quality between compressed and uncompressed (the compression is entirely loss-less), so the only benefit of using uncompressed is that you might manage about 10-15 percent more polyphony from a CPU of a given power.

There's also no difference at all in memory requirements between 20-bit *uncompressed* and 24-bit *uncompressed* (both use 32 bits for speed), so there's no benefit at all in using 20-bit *uncompressed*, i.e. it would never make sense to use 20-bit uncompressed - if you really want uncompressed then use 24-bit uncompressed (the memory usage would be exactly the same). It's only with compression that 20-bit resolution is useful.
Best regards, Martin.

Hello Unda Maris,

Loading volume 2 with the original edition (non-extended) with 20 bit, lossless compression, and all loops takes 7.2 GB. Loading the extended edition takes 7.8 GB with the same settings.

I hope this helps.

Brett:

Will you make a demo available of the 2nd version?

It would be helpful for us to get some basic idea of this set before shelling out a whopping thousand dollars.

I guess Adri is referring to a time limited / sound fading in & out playable demo of the sample set, rather than some pre-recorded demos if you get what I mean!

Yes, I meant a demo set I can play myself, as was the case in Release I.

As fas as the sound demos are concerned: While the music of Jan Zwart and Feike Asma, et. al., which really demonstrates the wind model very well, as this is foremost a baroque organ, I additionally like to hear period music demoed on this organ.

Those who live in Europe are so lucky with this wind model: copyright/legal issues has the USA shut out of "the wind".

Hello Adri,

Perhaps a little later in the future we'll have a look at a demo for volume 2.

Also we do plan on having more baroque demos published soon. David Lines is working on more, so please be patient while we get those ready. We didn't want to hold up the release pending some more demos since we had a good amount ready, so I do realize that the balance isn't quite there for musical styles, but we'll be addressing that soon enough.

I assume you heard the few demos recorded by David already on the the volume 2 listing? If not, look below Christian Boogaard's demos and you will see David's. There is some Krebs, Bruhns and then a Rheinberger piece (not baroque I know!)

Thank you for your interest!
