Hmmm... think I might hold off for a dry set which can then be combined with Hauptwerk 4 and its native convolution reverb when it comes out. Tempted though...

Hooray!! Bought, and downloading now. The demos are fantastic. I expect this will be a great complement to the Bovenkirk Hinz. The sound you're achieving with this and the Hinz are just compelling.

Thanks and keep up the good work!

Thanks very much indeed for the checksums Brett.

I am looking forward to being able to play (in my limited definition of "play") the new organ!

I cant wait until the Demo comes out!! Until then, I'll be counting my pennies and taking plenty of OT to get ready to buy everything I need for this. (3rd manual, swell shoe, shipping, sample set)

Dear All,

Got the Willis going this evening. Its absolutely fabulous. Really sweet and majestic.Managed to workround and play some trumpet tunes etc as well as the Passini cantabile. So impresssed. Nothing sounds out of place, mixtures reeds surpass the Metz in my view but then its personal preference. Cant wait to educate my FRCO teacher. Hes a tad purist
but i would be surprised if he wasnt impressed. I am going try simulated dry and add less reverb, see what happens. Did it with the Metz and was good. We will see.

Thanks all at MDA

I could not complete even one the the 4GB+ downloads; IE kept
reportinng a "timeout" and would stop, then dump the partial
downloaded file. So switched to Filezilla which will NOT dump
partial downloads, and will even re-start the download if
interrupted for some reason. Also seems a bit faster; reports
that the first large file will take something over 5 hours,
compared to 12 hours estimated by IE when I tried just the
direct download. Of course, if I don't want to tie up the
organ PC while all the many hours of download continue, I
can just stop that, and await receiving the three DVDs
from MDA for V1 of Salisbury.

Filezilla is a free download, see:

Brett,

It was your Skinner set that motivated me to get started with Hauptwerk. A couple of other sample sets were then purchased and I said "no more" sample sets. The Skinner was all I had ever wanted for a home installation. Then I heard the Bairstow and again I have the same anticipated excitement experienced earlier with the Skinner. I know the demands on your time are enormous, but I wonder if all of us would not benefit from a detailed account of the many steps involved in bringing such magnificent sample sets to the consuming public.

Thanks Jim for the hint about Filezilla. I've been trying to download the DVD-1 since yesterday and kept getting booted out at about 75%. I downloaded Filezilla, and the first disk is nearly done. Obviously, I can't wait for the software to arrive -- those new demos sparked me!

Now up and running - very typically Willis, and typically MDA too. Great dynamic range with all those couplers, and a very convincing organ to play. The core sound has been very convincingly captured in the limited Vol 1 spec. It feels good to play.

The intriguing feature is the medieval clock in the audio setup menu - I have set the audio output for it, but haven't worked out how to make it chime - yet!! (any clues welcomed)

I did find that Google link as well, however, in the lower right hand corner is a shortcut (once you start the download) that says that the above file contains "unauthenticated" material. Hmmm, that's a new one on me. Anyone know what that means as in is it harmless and without junk that reports your activity (or such) back to the authors of the software? :? I got bit bad a while ago and that experience taught me to be a little leery. as in hair on my neck goes up. And sometimes, one has a bit more hair on the neck than on the top of the head. :o

Just curious,

Ed,
I didn't get any warning like that. I have downloaded both the Mac and Windows versions. I just figured with all the future large downloads, I need a boost!

After you start the download, click on (a very tiny) Icon extreme lower right corner. Only after you click on that Icon, does that "unauthenticated software" message appear. It's probably harmlessly, but I'm still curious.

I didn't know until later after I had the (bad) experience mentioned above, that there was any monitoring of my activity taking place. I'm not trying to strike fear or such, just asking about it. Better to do that, I figure. After I found that Icon, I aborted the download. If everything is on the up and up, the program appears to be a good thing to have.

The other question I have, is why when you click on the tiny url link and prior to the download, do "they" ask for $$ as I posted above. I just ask too many questions :?: :?: I guess.

Rgds,
Ed
