Registrations for St Maximin

Postby Opus138 » Wed Dec 01, 2010 4:45 pm

Good day to all of you,

I have installed the new St Maximin, which is a superb sample set.
However, one must learn to exploit this type of organ and music. Now, I have two CD's of St Maximin, but unfortunately both donot show the registrations used for the various pieces of music.Hence, I come to the somewhat unmodest request: if some of you own CD's with registrations per piece of music, could you make a photocopy of such registrations and send me an e-mail? Yes, it is unmodest but I presume there may be more users of this sample set who would be pleased by having such registrations to learn how to get the best out of the sample set.

Ah, while typing this the thought crosses my mind that there may be legal aspects?? I am not at home with legal aspects, so if there are, pls discard this request!

Many thanks in advance.

Hello David,

Thanks for your early reaction. Yes, I have followed that conversation on the forum and downloaded these combinations. What I mean is slightly different: in general, CD's are made by 1st class professional organists and it is very interesting for me to see how they apply certain registrations for certain pieces of music. An important example is the use of the Grand Nazard 5 1/3 and the Tierce
3 1/5. Hope this explains better my (perhaps unusual) request.

Best regards,

Hello Simon,

I have several CD's recording of St Maximin but there is no registration indication in them unfortunately.
Maybe you can ask to Dalest.

yes here is the expmlaination of the GRANDE TIERCE : it's in french :

The Big Tierce 3 1/5 is a typical stop of the French classic organ. We find it in the keyboard of Big Organ on most of the instruments of baroque aesthetics (Dom Bedos, Cliquot) and it was put back to the honor in the neo-classic organ at the end of the XIXth century ( Puget). it enters the composition of the "grand jeu" of French-style tierce: stops 16, 8, 4, 2, gros Nasard 5 1/3 or (grosse quinte), Big tierce 3 1/5, Nasard 2 2/3, Tierce 1 3/5. The grandNasard (or grosse quinte) is optional.
