Hauptwerk 4 instrument demo

PostThu Mar 24, 2011 12:28 am

Dear all,

As some of you may know already Hauptwerk 4 will feature an update to the included organ that it comes bundled with. We haven't yet announced what organ it is but will announce it once Hauptwerk 4 is released. However I'd like to share an audio demonstration of the instrument, we feel it is a huge improvement over the Hauptwerk 2/3 St. Anne's which was recorded long ago and does not feature all of the latest innovations of Hauptwerk's features. The new instrument however does and we hope that this will enable organists to have a great first impression/experience with Hauptwerk.

Special thanks to Salisbury Cathedral's organist Daniel Cook for recording the demo for us.

Improv

The MP3 is set to 320kbs and 44.1kHz.

I hope you enjoy the music. Feel free to guess the organ, however you won't get an answer from us just yet!

Also as an added bonus Hauptwerk 4 will come with this recording as a MIDI file and will be loaded by default in the Hauptwerk MIDI player when the included organ is loaded, so you can watch Daniel Cook play his Improv virtually in your own room. How cool is that?

I hope we will still be able to install St. Annes in HW4, I'm rather fond of it.

I especially like the sound of the chorus reeds. Nice improvisation.

Hello Douglas,

I've just checked, and the link is working properly for me at the moment. Perhaps just try again in a short while?
Best regards, Martin.

Sounds wonderful! I like it that the sample set is a dry one. Whetted my appetite! :P

Yes, sounds really nice. American classic sounding to me, maybe something from a certain organ in Chicago?

Marc, yes, might be a portion (2 manual version?) of Brett's dry
Skinner-- just a guess. Probably without the Frnch Horn stop
if so. We'll know what it is in time.

Without knowing much about American classic organs, I doubt it is part of any other existing sample set. That would not be a financially wise decision. Also it is not completely dry, and for the demo organ I doubt they used a truncated version or one with artificial reverb. It must be something new (hence the delay).

I think it's new, too. When Brett came to the UK to record Salisbury he returned home and told us how many pipes he had recorded. The number of pipes exceeded the number in the Willis. He also admitted going to Europe.

So the new organ could be in the UK or possibly elsewhere in Europe.

That Brett is a tease!

Richard
