Hi Brett,

Thanks for the preview - sounds great! I was just wondering, for those of us who bought v3 during the original 'free upgrade' sale period, will the same offer still apply given that the release date has changed by 2+ months?

Thanks,
Chris

Hello Chris,

Yes - any v3 licences that were purchased since the sale started on 6 December 2010:

http://forum.hauptwerk.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=7691

... will still qualify for a free upgrade to v4 (of the same licence edition).
Best regards, Martin.

I'm sure ... Dulciana, Diapasons, the characteristic swell reeds, Trombone, tracker noise …
the new 1907 Brindley and Foster organ of St. Anne's Moseley, Birmingham, England!

What's the reason for the extreme secretiveness?

Best regards,

Matthias

Yes, I was thinking the same, a new recording of St. Annes in 24 bits stereo this time :)

They are not in the demo but it would be great if the tremulants are also 'original sampled' because this in one of the things that needed the most upgrade (imho).

Hope that there will come some more demo's...

So far good job Brett (and Martin)

But of course sampling the tremulants will make this unknown but not very small sounding sample-set almost twice as big and maybe it will not fit within the RAM limit of the HW free edition anymore then..

True but if it is the new St. Annes, I doubt it will fit anyway as the 24bit samples are quite large by themselves I suppose. Hmm, perhaps the RAM limitation will be stretched a bit also then

There's no 'extreme' secretiveness as such.

Brett just wanted to keep the existence of a new sample set in v4 as a nice surprise.

We've previewed a lot of the v4 features publicly but not all of them yet. (We have competitors and, like anyone developing innovative products, we have to be a bit wary of people copying from them.)

Also, features are subject to change during development and having detailed discussions about forthcoming features on the forum or via email inevitably takes some time away from development and delay the release to some extent, so we have to strike a balance.
Best regards, Martin.

They've already said that HW4 will require more memory.

And maybe they've vastly improved the tremulant model so much that sampled trems are no longer necessary?

Je suis désolé.

The existence of a new sample set in v4 was in public, the identity not at all.

You owe me the award!

Best regards,

Matthias

Very nice instrument. I just placed my order for an upgrade, mostly to get the new instrument. I'm upgrading from version 2, but I probably won't even install version 3 ... I'll wait until ver 4 arrives and install that.

I wonder if St John the Baptist in Tisbury Wiltshire is a candidate - its a nice little 2 M19 Rank 1887 Willis - so not too large as a frebee with HW4, Well looked after ( Manders) Quiet village so easy to record, and only 40 minutes or so from Salisbury, and good local pubs... just the thing after a hard nights sampling in the Cathedral... what do you think Hercule !

It is over 25 years since I played the organ (manuals only) at all regularly - since then only in public at three family funerals. Even so, I was shocked to hear how unevenly I play, even after a bit of practice! None the less, here is my offering of (Removed) played using a certain mystery sample set.

Hello Paul,

Please remember that Hauptwerk 4 is still a confidential beta build for our beta users. I've removed the link to your demo (which assumes that you have used the new instrument with Hauptwerk 4).

Once Hauptwerk 4 is publicly released you as well as others may feel free to post demos using the included instrument.

Thanks for your understanding.
